Hi all!
I have a flat in Muswell Hill and my current housemate is moving out this weekend, so I need someone asap to take over her half of the lease.
On offer is a large double bedroom with private bath and a shared large kitchen and large living room. It's a first floor flat right in the middle of Muswell Hill (amenities listed below) Rent is £600+bills which typically amount to around £100.
Here's the details:
First off, I have a puppy, so any non-dog fans or those allergic to dogs, please consider that.
More specifically, rent is £590 a month (£1175 total). Power and gas run about £90, but they do go up and down with the seasons. Water is usually £300 a year, but I can change that to £15 a month if you prefer. Internet/phone is typically £45-60 with all the goodies, before I subtract out my share - so you should expect to pay around £17-20. To put things in perspective, my current housemate has been paying about £95-£120 in bills each month. For now, the council tax is half because of my full-time student status, but I don't know what that figure is exactly. Somewhere around £75. It will change next February when my schooling ends.
My girlfriend is around a lot and she typically chips in on some things as well, so these costs my go down some from time to time.
Local amenities: Sainsbury, M&S, and Waitrose (next month) are walking distance, Super Tesco just down the road. All the major banks here, five charity shops, yummy food, and the Odeon. three night buses, and five to ten mins to Highgate; ten to fifteen to Finsbury Park; five to ten to East Finchley; Bus routes W7 (Finsbury Park via Crouch End), 43 (London Bridge via Old Street/Angel), 102 (Brent Cross via Golders Green), 134 (Tottenham Court Road via Camden Town), 144 (Edmonton via Wood Green/Turnpike Lane), 234 (Highgate Wood (north) to the Spires), 299 (Cockfosters via Southgate/Arnos Grove), and 602 (Golders Green School Route). There's also 11 ZipCar's within walking distance.
The deposit is the big thing and I think it is two months rent in advance (so £1175.00). I can't remember the credit check, but it's bank statements and a maybe an old bill/utility and then fill out a form they send of to someone that steals some of your money. I think it's £35? Maybe more. Hornsey Agency is the property rep.'They've always been pretty nice and has taken care of me well in the past.
And just so you know, they know about my dog, and there's nothing in the lease that says no pets, but they also prefer to turn their heads and ignore that he's here, so sort of do the same.
Please get in touch if you're interested. I'll be around to show the house every day until Tuesday (gotta sort something before then), except Saturday day.
My numbers are 077 8075 6021 and 020 8444 0439 or you can email me at kingseesar@netzero.net.
Thank you! Will

Well, following on from my last post, it looks like my landlady wants me to move out too, so yours truly is looking urgently for a new place to rent out in the London area. I'm on Benefits right now, so the cheaper the better, although "cheap" is a relative term in London.
I'm not too bothered location wise although somewhere reasonably near tube/train/Overground stations and/or bus routes would be handy for obvious reasons. I've lived in West Ealing and Acton for the last four years so it would be nice to stay in the vicinity, but I'll see what comes up.
Ideally I'd like a furnished double bedroom, although as long as there's a decent bed/mattress I can live without much other stuff. A reasonable occupant-to-bathroom ratio would be good to avoid hassles in the mornings when I get back to work. It would be great to find a single bedroom or studio flat I can afford in London; go on, surprise me! :)
I'm a 38 year old bi, poly, kinky, alternative-ish easy going guy who's a decent cook and does the washing up after causing any kitchen chaos, so it would be great to find some equally drama-free flatmates to share with.
If anyone can help me out finding a news place or moving house in 3 of 4 week's time then leave a comment here, message me or drop me an email to dke17 [at] hotmail [dot] com and let me know.

I am 23 and from Austria, but seriously considering to move to London in March! Happy, if rent would not be too terrible high as I need to search for work over there as well! I have a degree in social work, but don't know yet if I could get something in this field of interest immediately...I love the 80s and all kind of gothic things which belong to them!I am friendly and easy to handle, open minded and curious to get to know new people! So if you would like to get to know me, I would be really glad if you would response!
Best regards, K

Large room in flat just off Holloway Road, in the Big Red/Odeon area, available immediately for £600 inclusive of all bills. The room is fully furnished, the flat has wi-fi, and you'll be sharing with me only. I work mostly nights, and I go out every weekend, so the flat is overall pretty quiet which means you'll be spending several evenings a week by yourself. I point this out as it turns out that many people want constant company when at home, and I really can't provide this, so ideally you work full time regular hours, and you'll come equipped with your own life and friends. Which, if you're an alty/goth type in London, will probably mean people I also know. I don't wish to come across as a complete bear, and I've had nice evenings in with flatmates, movies and drinks, but overall this probably suits someone who, like me, likes a bit of peace and quiet at home and does the partying and boozing outside. Other than that, the room is fairly large, double bed, decent amount of storage, there's a largish living room with a balcony, separate kitchen with washing machine, and all the normal mod cons, and the area is very well connected, the Piccadilly line is 5-10 min walk away, dozens of buses a couple of minutes away, including 3 night buses and a few 24/7 bus routes as well. There might be a dedicated parking space available to rent in the courtyard if you have a car, but I would need to double check with the local authority on that.

I need to find somewhere to live in Cardiff in the next month or so... Does anyone have a room (or two - my friend and current housemate will need to move too) in a house share? Or are there others out there who would like to find somewhere to rent together? It is so very depressing trawling through the monotonous, cream-walled offerings on Gumtree. Can anyone help?

I am an Aussie goth looking for a housemate or two to join me in setting up a new house. I think I am looking Wood Green and Walthanstow areas. This person needs to be comfortable with cats and not have any of their own, I have a grumpy old tortie who does not play nice with other cats but loves humans. Most of the time. Looking for some who is relaxed about shared house living and is understanding of my sewing hobby but not students who are looking for a house Mum. ;) I also am not with keeping with drugs in my place of living, mainly because I bored of tweeked conversations easily. I drink but don't smoke and am fairly laid back with most things.
Quite social and a member of the London Gothic meetup group and London Goth sluts, go to different nights but generally not Slimes. I will be looking to move in the next 4 to 6 weeks. Anyone interested or know of anyone?

All hail... My name’s Laura, I'm 28 years old and come from Italy. I arrived here in London a week ago, and now I’m looking for a single or double room to rent short term (at least one month), and as soon as possible (from September 5th). I need to improve my english, even though I have a degree in foreign languages and Literatures, and to apply for a job but first, a nice place to move in before I start my job search is more than an imperative. I am a clean and tidy person, don't smoke or have any pets with me, I'm private and quiet at home, read books and study. I rarely have friends around, nevertheless, I get along quite well with everyone. I am very thorough and take what I do seriously. If there's any queries, ask away. Waiting (and trusting) for reply, sincerely. Laura

Greets! I'm letting people know that I have two rooms going in a three bed house in Leeds, in the Hyde Park/Headingley area. We're a fifteen minute walk from The Library (Flock) and the University (Wendyhouse and I suppose studying), the Burley Park station is ten minutes away, and two main bus lines into town run right by us. We also have a Spar garage, local shop, Co-op and Sainsburys all within close distance.
Rent is £265pcm, bills on top (good broadband, gas/electric/water). The agency is reliable, and the landlord lives nearby and is very good at responding to requests. We have a large front room, a huge kitchen, a small but cute back yard and a small fourth room for storage / guests.
As a housemate, I'm a Mature Student, working part-time. I don't smoke, I do drink, I don't have pets but I do have a band who occasionally rehearse in the kitchen. I play videogames, watch Star Trek and probably fulfill every other stereotype going!
The place is available straight away - if there's any queries, ask away!

Hi all
One of my flatmates is moving out and we (other flatmate and I) are looking for someone to take her room. Please take a look at the ad below and contact me here, or via there if interested.
The ad may make us sound a bit boring! We aren't, we just like to live quietly at home and don't want a party monster moving in! ;o)

Hi folks!
Our current flatmate is moving out to be with her bf, so from the middle of July we'll have a double room available in our three bed flat in Bethnal Green (E2)
The flat is a ten minute walk from Bethnal Green tube station (Central line, Zone 2), plus there's also the overground station and a smorgasbord of bus routes to choose from. Tons of shops and amenities.
Rent is £400 pm plus bills (on average about £50pm) and you'd be dealing with our landlord directly, who is excellent. Sharing with myself (I work as a life model and clothing designer) and Rob (IT tech), both goths and geeks. The flat itself is spacious, wood flooring throughout, shared kitchen, bathroom/toilet and large living room, central heating, broadband and Freeview. Smoking is allowed but only out on the balcony. Unfortunately cats and dogs aren't allowed but you can get away with small pets such as rats, tarantulas, etc.
If you're interested or have any other questions, please email me at thecyberology@gmail.com
Thanks!

Room in the hallway for bicycles.
More details and pictures are here: http://www.spareroom.co.uk/1626104
I'm 36 years old, working as a painting restorer and have strong interests in the arts and literature. I enjoy good sci-fi and a bit of gaming too. I'm not out clubbing as much as I used too but still enjoy a trip to the pub and Slimelight etc. fairly often.

£502.50 pcm (Council Tax and water rates included)
Nearest station: Archway, Upper Holloway Nearest pubs: The Landseer, North 19, Nambucca
We are 4 friendly, professional alternative types looking to find someone to move into our shared house on a quiet street off Holloway Road. There is good access to central and north London, Camden and Kings Cross and there are some lovely pubs within a 10 minute walk.
We are all professionals in our late 20's/early 30's so would be looking for someone similar. No DSS please.
The property has 2 bathrooms (plus one en suite), a nice big kitchen and living room, and a good outdoors garden for the inevitable summer BBQ parties and smoking. We do like to throw the not-too-infrequent house party with our friends although we do live in a quiet residential area with young families, so having loud after parties is generally a no-no.

I am looking to move at the end of March and i'm either looking for a room in an existing share or possibly start up a new share. I currently live with randoms and would quite like to move to somewhere with like minded souls who share the same interests in music, nightlife etc. At the same time im not looking to move into a party house, preferably somewhere that is fairly quiet during the week.

Hi there,
I am a 30 year old goth girl looking for a new place to live in London. I am looking for a large double room in the Dalston/Stoke Newington/Hackney/Stamford Hill and surrounding area.
I work from home for part of the week, therefore I require a decent sized room and a good internet connection. For the rest of the week I work outside of London but am in London at weekends. I have all my own furniture, therefore an unfurnished room is preferred. I am a non smoker and do my share of the household chores because I like to live in a clean house.
I am happy to look for a flatshare with someone and I have the majority of furniture required to furnish a whole flat if necessary. My budget is £400 - £700 PCM
Please contact me here or via fenbane@gmail.com

Hello all,
This isn't for an immediate move, but in about 6 months time, I'll be looking at moving. I thought it couldn't hurt to start thinking about what might be out there...after all, not everyone wants to move immediately.
I'm looking for somewhere with good transport links, no more than about 10 mins walk from a tube, DLR, overground or rail link. I'd like a good sized double room, ideally with a high ceiling to accommodate my loft bed. I have my own furniture, so i'm really looking for unfurnished or partially furnished. I'd like to share with people who are friendly, but not too noisy - I work shifts, so i need my sleep sometimes at odd hours. I would prefer to have some kind of communal space like living room and spare room, so it's possible to occasionally put visiting friends up (not constantly, but it would be nice to be able to from time to time, as i have friends in far-off towns who would need to stay if they visited). I think i would prefer to share with not too many other people, say not more than 3 or 4, as i think it tends to multiply the potential for problems! I'm friendly, fairly quiet, clean, and I have been known to bake and share...
I'm not sure where yet, but I'm thinking preferably zone 2-3, maybe a bit further out depending on proximity to tube etc.
I'm looking to spend somewhere between £300 to £500 a month, ideally, including bills. OK, i realise that the first number is a bit optimistic!

I'm looking for a double room within zones 3 or 2, maximum £450/500 incl bills per month.
Garden is essential though as I've got patio plants (veg & fruit)
I'm a non-smoker (though I don't mind people smoking), have no pets (though I don't mind pets at all), am not much of a drinker and work full time Monday to Friday.
I'd say I'm a reliable and fun housemate with loads of DVD's, I love cooking and baking, and also crafty things. Have I mentioned gardening as well? ;)
Looking to move within the next one or two months, can move immediately as well.
my email is Sinmara77@yahoo.com

Full ad on Gumtree here:
http://www.gumtree.com/london/56/69715656.html
Available February 1st 2011, there's some flexibility with this though as we have a small spare room that could be used if you needed to move in a little earlier.
The money:
Rent (including all bills) is £560 per month and a £600 deposit is required. This includes TV license, gas, electricity, council tax, Sky TV and high speed wireless internet.
The house:
The house has a two car driveway at the front and a large garden at the back, a large livingroom and adjoining dining room, good sized kitchen with washing machine and separate dryer and a bathroom with a power shower. We also have a small box room that we use as a guestroom if we have anyone staying over.
The room:
The bedroom overlooks the garden and has a chest of drawers, two large built-in wardrobes and a double mattress (no bedframe as the housemates moving out are taking it with them!)
Us:
Current flatmates are two professional women, one male student and two loving cats; Fluffy and Sleeky. Weeknights spent unwinding in-front of the TV or listening to music. Enjoy a night out on weekends and visiting friends.
What we're looking for:
We all get on well and have lived together for the last two years so we're really looking for someone (single or a couple) who wants to make this house their home too. The lease runs for another year so ideally we'd like someone who would be looking to live here for the next year.
Pictures:
I've included lots of pictures from when we first moved in (so it's all empty!) but if there is anything else you're interested in seeing, let me know as I have a lot more!
The area:
Co-Op Supermarket, Several Off-Licenses, Polish Delicatessen, Chinese Takeways, Florists, Homebase, Dry Cleaners and Pharmacy. 5-10 minutes to local Bars and Restaurants.
Recommend: The Railway for drinks, music and good pub-grub, The Greyhound for Drinks, live music and sports, and The Waterfront for drinks and pizza.
Trains from Streatham Common Station – 2 min walk (Victoria & London Bridge), Streatham Rail - 15 min walk (Thames Link; London Bridge).
Local bus routes to Brixton and Mordon, with Night Buses from Liverpool Street.

Hello all,
I see that this community is being used primarily for housing in London. I am curious if there is anybody out there who would know of goth housing in Berlin. I just came here from America to study abroad for a year, and am interested in living with other goths.
If it is possible that there is someone here who knows someone, or needs a housemate them self, I would be happy to write a detailed email about myself.
Danke,
Mica

I share a fairly spacious flat with massive amounts of natural light with two other women, and one of them will be leaving for America in mid-October. So, from about October 20th, we'll be needing a new flatmate!
Bedroom: The flatmate that is leaving will be vacating a smallish single room, and that room is available for £300/month plus bills. If you need more space, my remaining flatmate may be willing to move into the single, and her double room will be available for £330/month plus bills. Both rooms have massive windows that take up most of one wall, and come with bed and wardrobe- other furniture is up to you. Morning people may enjoy the double room, as it gets all the morning light, while the single gets beautifully warm afternoon sun. Kitchen: is narrow, so gets crowded with more than two people in it, but comes fully stocked with pots, pans, plates, gas oven, grill & hob, large fridge, chest freezer, plenty of cupboard space, etc. I enjoy cooking, so there's a reasonable chance of occasional curries, cakes and pies.
Living room: Is really quite large. Again, huge windows take up an entire wall, but all windows are fully double glazed and the heating's pretty efficient, so you won't freeze in winter. We've got a little private balcony if you want to smoke out of the wind, and plenty of bookshelf space for your books, DVDs and so on. if you want to have a friend over, the sofa is fantastically comfortable, and we've got a spare duvet if needed.
Bills: The bills aren't too bad, either- council tax is about £35/month, wireless broadband is £5/month or so, landline £3/month with unlimited calls after 6pm, electricity's on PAYG, and water and gas are about £30.
Area: near to Crossharbour DLR Station, Isle of Dogs. About five minutes walk from local warehouse-sized 24-hour ASDA, or there's a corner shop about a minute from the front door. We've also got a fairly pleasant local pub beside the DLR, which is again only five minutes walk (or ten if you're tired). Aside from the DLR, which usually runs later than the Tube, we've also got the N550 bus- handily, this passes very near to the venues for both Vagabonds and Subversion, and stops very near to our flat! For daytime travel, the DLR can have you in Bank in just fifteen minutes, and from there you've got the Central, Northern, Circle, District and Waterloo & City Lines to take you all over London.
Housemates: we're professionals in our 20s, and very much goth/alt/kink friendly. Because we work during the week, we do need noise to be kept down after about 11pm, but we're fine with guests staying over and we don't mind houseparties at the weekends. We would prefer an individual rather than a couple, and unfortunately we're not allowed pets.
If this sounds good to you, leave a message here, PM me, or email me on delkaetre@inbox.com and I'll be happy to show you around some time.

Does anyone have (or know of) a room to rent in London?
I'm a friendly, single, non-smoking, early-thirties guy.
My bad habits include vegetarianism, Scottishness and working in IT. However if you can overlook those, I'm a good person to share with. ;)
I'm pretty flexible on cost and location but the closer to Camden and the city centre the better.

Hi everyone!
My names Rachel. I'm from Dublin and planning to move to London around the end of August to mid September. If anyone could help me out finding a reasonably priced single room, even short term, I'd really appreciate it.
I'm told I'm easy to get along with. I'm a non-smoker, do my part cleaning up and I'm pretty laid back about most thing. I'm not picky about where it is just so long as there's decent access to public transport I listen to pretty much any genre of music and love anything I can dance to. I'm a fan of clubs like Antichrist and Slimelight.
Anyway thanks guys, if anyone knows of anything suitable you can contact me here or my e-mail address is rachelrbennett@hotmail.com

To share with a guy and a girl, just good friends. Rooms are two doubles and a single, all wood floors upstairs and carpet down, can divvy up by preference. Flat has decent kitchen + dining table area, massive lounge, bathroom with shower, long sloped garden with large patio and BBQ area and free parking over the fence. Rent is £975pcm for whole flat including gas & electricity, leasing directly from landlord, Council tax is ~£150 for whole flat so assuming we were to divide equally that would be ~£375pcm excluding TV, phone, internet and water. We're planning to get Sky+HD TV/phone/internet. We're moving in on the second week of September. We're both in to goth/metal and are occasional visitors to Slimelight, Antichrist, Nightmare (RIP) and so on. Also big on board games. Considering getting cats; previous tenants had two, no issues with landlord. Email tim dot greeba at gmail dot com for more details. Original advert is here.

Hi, I'm Laurie, I'm a lefty-feminist writer and journalist looking for a room in London from the end of August/middle of September. I'm in quite a desperate situation so anyone who can help would be very much appreciated!
Essentially, I'm looking for somewhere in Zone 2-3 (or 1, but let's not hold out too much hope) for under £500pcm. Experience suggests that this is possible. If others are looking for somewhere then I'm happy to try to find places together and buddy up!

Hi there Goth Community!
This is a cry for help from one of your follow dark ones: I need a house mate by August or I will be kicked out of my fabulous house! HELP! Please let me know if you or someone you know (and recommend) is in need of a place to live!
The flat is a huge two bedroom place in Muswell Hill, right on the Broadway. I'm five minutes from Highgate station, seven minutes from East Finchley, and ten or so from Finsbury Park with buses that run all night to Tottenham Court, London Bridge, and Golders Green.
The room for rent is a giant double room with an en suite bathroom. There's a large kitchen and living room. It's on the first floor above a realty office. Other fun things include a projector to watch vampire/ghost/zombie movies in the living room, carpeted bedroom floor, but all other rooms are hard wood floors, gas stove and heating, landline and 20mb fibre optic internet with wireless capabilities (it does reach throughout the house, too), and of course, you get to live with me!
The rent is going to be ~£600 plus utilities. Rent due at the first of the month, bills scattered throughout the month.
PLEASE let me know if you are interested or if someone you know is interested! I apologise for the short notice, but I just found out. Hopefully my new flatmate be Vampire/goth?/dark ambient noise friendly...
PM me here, write me directly on kingseesar at netzero.net or text/ring me on 077 8075 6021.
Thanks!!!!! Will

Hi everyone!
Our flatmate has just let me know that he's going to be moving in with his girlfriend in about a month's time. We're going to miss him terribly as he's awesome but obviously life moves on, so we're on the lookout for another fabulous person to take his room.
The room: A well sized furnished double room- comes with a double bed, desk and built in wardrobe, although there might be a few other bits of furniture depending on what my flatmate decides to leave behind. Rent is currently £400 pcm, not including bills. Bills are around £50 per month. Deposit is six weeks worth of rent.
Location: Room is in spacious three bed flat located next to Victoria Park in Bethnal Green. It's a short walk to Bethnal Green Tube station (Central Line, Zone 2) and well served by a multitude of buses giving you easy travel to most of London's goth clubs. The area's also a vibrant part of the East End's reknown artistic community, so if you're a creative type you'll be spoilt for choice!
The flat is centrally heated, wooden flooring throughout and has a large balcony which can be accessed from the living room. Smokers are welcome but you have to smoke out on the balcony. Our landlord doesn't allow pets but you can get away with having small animals such as rats, tarantulas, etc, as he rarely visits the flat. Flat also has broadband internet.
You'd be sharing with two goths. We can be a little messy at times- I design and make clothing so you'll sometimes find bits of thread, pattern pieces and fabric in the living room!
Ideally we're looking for someone who can move in sometime in July. If you have any questions feel free to email me at thecyberologyATgmail.com

House is here - http://tinyurl.com/y256t3y - 5 min walk from Turnpike Lane station, and 10mins from all the shops and amenities of Wood Green - including a large Morrisons and a Vue cinema, Primark, TK Maxx, Boots, New Look etc.
The house is a large ground floor Victorian maisonette. There are quite a few period features still such as cornicing and lovely stained glass on the front door. You'll be sharing with two lovely girls, both vet nurses who work at the RSPCA, and are great housemates - really chilled out and relaxed.
The bedroom is LARGE - it comfortably fits a double bed, large shelving/cube unit (this sort of thing but wider), there is a sofa bed type thing, a wardrobe/chest of drawers unit, and I currently also have a bookcase and side table which can be left if you need them. The bedroom also has large French doors leading out into the garden, which will be lovely in summer.
The rest of the house: in the lounge there are two sofas, a dining table and chairs, and an armchair, plenty of storage space on a shelving unit for books etc. The kitchen is relatively small, but there's plenty enough space to store things as there's a larder type cupboard as well as regular units. There's a washer/dryer, and a gas oven and hob and fridge/freezer.
There's a little garden out back, with a BBQ and enough room to store 3 bikes. Mostly patio, with a small border around the edge; there's not much by way of plant life in it at the moment but plenty of opportunity to grow things.
The rent is £466.67 pcm. Gas/water/electric/council tax/broadband/Virgin TV all come to under £80 per month. There is limited local parking on free streets, but permits can be bought from the council and I think they're approx. £100 a year. The house *is* on a main road, so there's a bit of traffic noise, but I've never found it bad enough to cause problems sleeping or relaxing.
If you're interested or know anyone who might be, please email me - miss[dot]neophyte[at]gmail[dot]com. I'm looking to find someone to move in as soon as possible, ideally.
